December 2009
16"x16" cotton canvas,
transferred photograph, and acrylic primer: black, white

Notes: More (monochromatic) experimentation, hah. I don't even know where to begin with this one. The process is a bit wordy: inkjet printed (flipped) photograph, some image-transfer paste-stuff, 4 to 24 hours, and acrylic primer.

(thanks to `arctoa and Paradise Lost for the title to this piece.)

There's a certain juxtaposition between the photograph and the paint; the bank seems to lean back into the canvas. Very well done. Political undertones, perhaps? Nevertheless, I shan't say the title adds to the atmosphere of this piece as the piece, itself, creates a foreboding atmosphere without any aid, but the title certainly gives a poetic portrayal of said atmosphere. I have to admit, though, the process seems as intriguing as the piece, itself.

Thank you for your kind words, Darragh. and I'm glad your finding this process interesting. I'm in the midst of seeing how far it'll let me go. It's the most comfortable I've felt with a medium, just under strictly painting in oil.
