Plugged In.

Journal Entry: Tue Aug 19, 2008, 7:43 PM
  • Listening to: The American Dollar - Supernova Landslide
  • Reading: Huxley, Aldous - Island

Okay. So, like... all I had to do was unplug and re-plug in the modem to make it work. Heh. Oops.

Catching up on my Message Centre now, but my notes are currently out-of-control, hah. Which is a good thing, mind... can't wait to go through all the Daily Deviation suggestions and start allocating them. I miss featuring artwork. :<

Last night I headed into Brooklyn to see The American Dollar along with Praveen. The latter I had never heard before, but I was pleasantly surprised.

For those of you who don't know, The American Dollar is an experimental instrumental duo from Queens, New York who dive into some really interesting and amazing soundscapes. The same can be said for Praveen, only he relied more on visual stimuli; intense would only scratch the surface.

The venue was a little joint called Monkeytown. It looks like a little abandoned building from the outside, but don't let that fool you. They performed in the back room, which was set up with long (comfortable!) couches running along the walls and huge projection screens set up on every wall (Facebook album of the set).

They played right in the middle of the room, which made for a really incredible sight. I've never been to anything like it before, and I'm so happy I went, even though it was a Monday night, hah.

If you're into post-rock experimental instrumental/light vocals, I definitely recommend both.

Okay, back to reading notes. :>

tradART OTS Update
Don't come after me with pitch-forks, please. :<
trad (ART) on the streets is not forgotten. I'm just fantastic at time management and decided to start this up when my life is mostly literally getting upheaved. It will come. and it will come as soon as possible. I'm not even going to bother to give you any sort of date, 'cause apparently everytime I do so, I turn into a liar. :|

- I only take suggestions from the Traditional Art gallery.
- Send it in the form of a note entitled "DD Suggestion" or some other variant.
- It's helpful if you send it using the :thumb######: code, but it isn't necessary.

- Most likely I will not respond, but I read and consider each and every one.
- Let me know ahead of time if you do not wish to be named as the "suggester".

that sounds like it was an amazing experience. i miss going out to brooklyn. my friend used to have an apartment out there so we would have a huge group go out there, and we'd all just have an amazing time. i definitely wanna check those bands out, too. :) glad you're up and running smoothly again. haha.
It totally was. Brooklyn is a great area of New York, I've only been there a handful of times, to be entirely honest - but all times have been good memories.

It was actually on my list of places I was looking to move before, hah. Was looking into DUMBO, Brooklyn Heights and a couple other spots as well.

and thanks, so'm I. I don't know how much longer I could go without consistent access to the internet, hah! :D

Hope you enjoy the music. :>

All together walk alone
Against all we've ever known
All we've ever really wanted
Was a place to call our home
But you take all we are
The innocence of our hearts
Made to kneel before the altar as you tear us apart
I Have to unplug mine and plug it back in every morning, it overheats xD
